Day 13 - Play a Card Game

Play a card game with someone in your house and post a comment about which one you played and  how it went.

K-1 Activity:

Tens Go Fish:

You need a deck of ordinary playing cards with the face cards and 10's removed.
1. Each player is dealt 5 cards.
2. Each player looks for pairs from his or her cards that make 10.  Players put down the pairs of cards that make 10, and they draw new cards to replace them.
3. Players take turns asking each other for a card that will make 10 with a card in their own hands.
If a player gets the card he or she asked for, he or she puts the pair down and picks a new card from the deck.
If a player does not get the card that he or she asked for, the player must "Go Fish" and pick a card from the deck.

If the new card makes 10 with a card in the player's hand, he or she puts the pair of cards down and takes another card.
If a player runs out of cards, the  player picks two new cards.
A player's turn is over when no more pairs can be made that make 10.
The game is over when there are no more cards.

Gr. 1-2 Activity:

Make Ten Card Game:

1.  Remove the face cards from a deck of cards and place the deck face down on a table.
2.  Each player chooses 5 cards from the top of the deck and puts the cards in front of them.
3.  The first player uses the 5 cards in front of him/her to make 10 in as many ways as possible and writes them down.  For example, if I had the cards 9,1,3,2,4.  I could write 9+1= 10, 4+3+2+1=10, or 9+4-3=10.
4.  After making as many equations as possible, the player sets aside used cards and play passes to the next player.
5.  Play continues with players refilling their 5 cards at the beginning of each round.
6.  Whoever used the most cards by the end of the deck is the winner.

Gr. 3-5 Activity:
